Home & garden projects: which saw to choose for the task?
It´s not a secret, that you only get great results if you use the right tools for your DIY projects. To help you out finding the right saw for your woodworking, here is a little guide.
For cutting trees & bushes, the most common way to go is a chainsaw. It has enought power to cut down even large trees. On the other hand, it´s a heavy tool and not necessarily needed for every project in this field. For some smaller trees (and bushes of course), you can go with a reciprocating saw. They are not that heavy and you are more flexible in using this kind of saw.
Wood Planks & Laminate
If you plan to cut some thicker wood planks, a circular saw is the tool of choice. Circular saws provice enough power and are perfect for making straight cuts, even through thicker wood planks. On the other hand, if cutting laminate floors, you might choose a jigsaw. A jigsaw provides more precision and flexibility. Even though invented by Bosch, today i suggest Makita as the best jigsaw producer.
Metal / Aluminium
For heavy duty jobs, such as cutting steel or aluminum, you need power. The saw of your choice should be at least a circular saw, or even better a cold saw or table saw. They provide the most power and with the right sawblade you can cut through steel like it´s nothing.
Smaller branches & bushes
Cutting some smaller branches and bushes is quite easy to do, and requires no heavy tools at all. You can even use a basic handsaw. If you prefer to make your life easier, a reciprocating saw does a great job here.
I hope this small guide helps you choosing the right saw for your next DIY project. Always remember, that choosing the right tool will get you the best results. If you like to learn more about that, search the web or youtube for some great blogs. I can recommend:
