New Delhi: January 11 marks the death anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, one of the greatest Indian statesmen and second prime minister of the country. Shastri was elected to the legislature from the United Provinces, erstwhile Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states, and held key cabinet positions of transport and home ministry. Shastri took over as the second prime minister of the country after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in May 1964.
“ though Lal Bahadur Shastri had only 19 months tenure as second Prime Minister of India but he left huge impact on the citizens of India. His famous quote Jai Jawan Jai Kisan touched the hearts of all Indians. spoke Sandeep Marwah Chief Scout For India in a webinar addressing large audience on the death anniversary of Shastri Ji organised by Scouts Guides Organisation in association with AAFT University and ICMEI- International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry.
“Let me read some quotes of Shastri Ji-The preservation of freedom, is not the task of soldiers alone, the whole nation has to be strong. We believe in peace and peaceful development, not only for ourselves but for people all over the world. True democracy or the swaraj of the masses can never come through untruthful and violent means. India will have to hang down her head in shame if even one person is left who is said in any way to be untouchable,” added Marwah.
