The good news is that the acceptance rate for Penn State is 75.9%.
The not-so-good news is that you are not quite at their average entering class GPA of 3.58. Assuming that each year is weighted the same, your current GPA is 3.23. Now, if you get a 4.0 GPA in the next three semesters, your 7-semester GPA will be 3.56 which might do it.
- Getting a 4.0 is no trivial undertaking. It will require to work very, very hard, but it can be done. Give up all time-wasting activities (yes, that includes social media) and don’t touch your phone except to talk with your parents.
- Why 7 semesters? Because applications will probably need to be in before your last semester’s grades are in.
- Note that GPA is not the only dimension that matters. Read the material in the link below.
With a GPA of 3.58, Penn State requires you to be around average in your high school class. You’ll need a mix of A’s and B’s, and very few C’s. If you have a lower GPA, you can compensate with harder courses like AP or IB classes. This will help boost your weighted GPA and show your ability to take college classes.
