The year of high school? I went all four years. What happened with you?
I strongly advise you to go attend all four years. If someone wants to have you skip a grade, don’t do it. That could screw up your social development. High school exists every to as much for the development of social skills as it does for the earning of academics.
Those four years of high school are vital. If you are in a high school now (which could explain the single year) you are at a critical juncture in your life.
How wisely you spend these four years will have a permanent effect on the rest of your life.
Success begets success. Failure begets failure. You might ask what about the geniuses who dropped out in 9th grade and went on to become millionaires? Well, they aren’t asking for my help and you are.
Don’t spend all four years doing nothing but studying. You would miss out on a lot:
High school should be four of the best years of your life, so enjoy them.
Just don’t be like this student who put himself in a situation where it was easy for the teacher to make an example out of of him.
You want your high school experience to be just as much about socializing as it is about studying. Optimally, you want a mix of 50% socializing and 50% studying. This will help you develop equally in all areas so that you become a well rounded adult. We’ve all seen people who have all the academic learning in the world but have never developed any common sense. Don’t do that.
Have a good time and make sure you try everything you want to try doing. Don’t get into drugs. They’re for losers. If you can’t have a good time without a chemical boost, you’re doing something wrong. Learn as much as you can about all aspects of life in high school. It really is a lot more than just academics. Don’t kid yourself. Life is every bit as much about “who you know” as it is “what you know.”
