Tamiflu is effective against all forms of influenza symptoms. It can remove both the A and B strains of the flu virus from a person’s system. Symptoms should have been present for no more than two days for this antiviral medication to be effective.
Patients who have been exposed to the virus but do not yet exhibit symptoms can also take the medication. Keep in mind, however, that this medication is not designed to cure the common cold.
Both capsules and oral suspensions are available for patients to use in the treatment of influenza A and B. The capsules may be taken either before or after eating, giving you more options on when to take them. Children and adolescents aged 13 and above will take two 75 mg capsules of Tamiflu daily. Keep a close eye on your condition after taking this medication, whether for treatment of influenza or prevention of influenza infection.
