In the past, robots were considered to be an iron machine with two legs and two arms parodying man. Then along came pick-and-place machined dedicated to one operation, and with computerization it was cheaper and easier to make them. I was there on the factory floor during this period. Then came the robots of today that resemble a human arm mounted on a swiveling base that can with computer guidance perform the same repetitive motion thousands of times with great accuracy. In the past it was seen as taking away human jobs, today this is defacto the case as millions of robots toil away in factories around the globe.
