Google has launched a portal for travel planning. Planning a trip online has become much easier with this portal. It is the desktop version of the experience introduced last year for mobile users to search for hotels and flights. This portal is Tech Maggan introduced for users who use large screen instead of mobile and want to use desktop for travel planning as well.
To access this portal, simply visit google.com/travel or type a travel-related query, such as hotel in Tokyo, into Google Search. On desktop as well as on mobile, this portal will provide flights, hotels, tour packages and other relevant information at one place.
Relevant information can be accessed from the tabs on the left side of the portal.
If you are logged in with your account while accessing this portal, it will also give you travel suggestions based on your location and past history. You can also track your saved destinations and flights on this portal. As soon as you book a hotel on this portal, it will automatically display your trip information on your timeline.
If you feel that Google is collecting too much information about you, you can also change the settings with the “Private Results” and “Web and App Activity” options. Click here for that.
Along with the new portal, Google has released an update for Maps. With this update Maps will tell you about the popular suburbs of the place you are visiting. In the coming months, you will be able to book hotels and restaurants directly from Maps.
